Sir Edmund Hillary was the First Man to Climb the 8,850m (29,035ft) peak The World's Highest Mountain - Mount Everest, with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, on 29 May 1953.
On 11 January 2008, Edmund Hillary Died of heart failure at the Auckland City Hospital at around 9 am NZDT (10 January at 20:00 UTC) at the age of 88.
